Miss Teen Earth United States 2011
Carlie Vowell

Carlie Maree Vowell was crowned Miss Teen Earth United States at the Plaza Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach, Florida on August 3, 2011. She competed as Miss Teen Earth Tennessee.

As Miss Teen Earth United States and a freshman at Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee, Carlie will spend the year advocating and educating for the protection and preservation of the environment. During the year, Carlie also will make special appearances on behalf of several charitable organizations, including Finding Freedom International, Soles4Souls, Earth Day Network, Greenpeace, 350.org and Out of the Closet. She will continue to champion her personal platform of pollution and volunteer her time for the betterment of the planet and its inhabitants.

Carlie currently serves as the President of the Martin Interact Club and is a member of FCCLA, HOSA and FCA. She has been inducted into the Academic Hall of Fame, served as the 4-H Club President, and received the Citizenship Award, 4-H County Speech Champion Award, Good Deed Essay Award and was selected as an All American Cheerleader. Carlie enjoys being active in community theatre where she has participated in the theater’s teen workshop, “Annie” and “Grease.” She has also participated in school plays.

Carlie’s hobbies include tennis, singing, reading, playing the guitar, power tumbling, swimming, participating in church activities and spending quality time with friends and family. She recently traveled to Baldwin, Louisianan for mission work and volunteers locally for several charitable organizations including We Care, an organization which helps the disadvantaged in her community. Carlie plans to one day travel abroad for other mission work opportunities.


Carlie’s favorite subjects in school are math and science. She plans to attend college and become a child life specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Her plans also include studying abroad for one year giving her the opportunity to travel, expand her worldview and learn a new language while making new friends around the world.

Carlie is an avid reader and her favorite electronic device is her Kindle. Her favorite books are “If I Stay” and “The Hunger Games.” Her favorite colors are purple and pink and her favorite food is kiwi.

Carlie’s favorite quote is “Your thoughts are the architects of your destiny,” by David O. McKay. Carlie recently obtained her divers permit and she hopes to one day own an environmentally friendly car.
